New e-Learning Course Launching Soon

The capitals community is developing an exciting new e-learning resource for business professionals to accompany the introductory course on natural capital ‘Valuing nature and people to inform business decision-making’.

In partnership with Nature^Squared, Social Value International, and the Business Commission to Tackle Inequality (BCTI), the Coalition are developing a free, online course on social and human capital ‘Transforming Business: Valuing Social & Human Capital’. The course will include case studies from Tony Chocolonely, Social Value International, BCTI and Kering. Beta testing for the course commences soon, with the course set to launch in June 2023.

TEEBAgriFood for Business Project

The Coalition’s agri-food regional communities convened in Brazil and Mexico this month with two in person events co-hosted by the Coalition, UNEP-TEEB, CEBDS, Reforestamos México and AMEBIN.

A range of stakeholders from business, academia, civil society and policymakers were present to explore the role of valuing of nature, people and society in decision-making as a contribution to food systems transformation. The event saw participation from 40 businesses including Nestlé, Yara Brasil, Walmart, Banorte, APEAM AC, Liv Up and Carrefour Group.

Participants shared case studies of their work undertaking capitals assessments and provided evidence for the benefits of using a capitals approach in transforming the agri-food sector. Check out the pilot applications for the project here and more information the TEEBAgrifood for Business Project can be found here.

Case Studies

The Coalition updates its case study database weekly. The case studies showcase examples of capitals assessments from across the world and highlight the importance of collaboration across the system to spark real-world change towards a more sustainable future.

As the international community convened for World Water Day 2023 and the UN Water Conference this month, the Coalition highlighted a case study from a Coalition organization, Yorkshire Water, undertaking an integrated capitals assessment.

The report measured their impacts and dependencies across all the capitals, supported more holistic decision-making in providing water and demonstrated the real benefits delivered for nature, people & society alongside the business and the economy.

If you are interested in submitting a case study, find out more here.
