Measuring Nature Positive

Organized by Capitals Coalition, WWF and Business for Nature

Saturday 9th December

12:00-13:15 GST

Location: Nature Positive Pavilion (Blue Zone)

Nature Positive – the Global Goal for Nature – means ensuring there is more nature in the world in 2030 than there was in 2020. This will contribute towards the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, the Paris Agreement, and securing a safe and just future. But how can businesses, financial institutes, governments, cities, communities and indigenous peoples, and civil society actors contribute to this goal?

How much contribution to the goal must each actor make, and will it all add up to bending the curve on nature loss?

This session will explore these topics from the perspective of the ultimate state-of-nature metrics, private sector impacts and dependencies, and the frameworks needed to drive action in a measurable way.

Nature and biodiversity loss is a fundamental risk to the functioning of our societies and businesses and is directly linked to climate change. A panel of experts will explore the climate-nature nexus, why this matters for organizations, transparency around nature-related performance and the role biodiversity can play in solving the climate challenge.

Broadening the Partnership to Secure a Nature Positive World

Organized by Capitals Coalition, WWF and Business for Nature

Saturday 9th December

17:15-18:30 GST

Location: Nature Positive Pavilion (Blue Zone)

After a successful launch of the Nature Positive Initiative in New York, a whole-of-society approach and alignment among governments, businesses, financial institutions and civil society around a common definition of ‘Nature Positive’ as well as actions at different scales will be necessary to deliver the Nature Positive goal.

The Nature Positive Initiative is therefore launching a diverse and inclusive Forum, with the purpose of aligning and coordinating our efforts to support a nature-positive outcome, and welcomes members from a variety of sectors, including environment NGOs, private sector coalitions and actors, development and humanitarian organisations, and many more.

This will be an ‘informal’ reception to launch the Forum and to offer the opportunity to learn about the Nature Positive Initiative first-hand from the organizations of the core/founding group.
