“To avoid the worst impacts of climate change and limit warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, global greenhouse gas emissions need to be cut in half by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050. As Bank of England Governor Mark Carney has noted, “achieving net zero will require a whole economy transition—every company, every bank, every insurer and investor will have to adjust their business models. This could turn an existential risk into the greatest commercial opportunity of our time.”

During this session participants will:

  • Assess the actions that financial regulators and investors worldwide are taking to mobilize the finance sector to drive the transition to a net zero emissions economy
  • Examine actions investors are taking on climate change in the four areas of The Investor Agenda: investment, corporate engagement, investor disclosure and policy advocacy
  • Explore the steps investors, businesses and governments are taking to step up climate action and commit to net zero on the road to COP26 in Glasgow in November 2020 and beyond.”
