Workshop Aims:

It is widely agreed that the world has failed to meet the UN’s target of halting global biodiversity loss by 2020. And that the inability to ‘mainstream’ nature conservation into everyday economic activities has been a significant cause of this failure. Our successful 2018 workshop identified many of the reasons why the UN’s 2011-2020 Strategic Plan for Biodiversity and its associated Aichi Targets failed to speak to business. As negotiations for a post-2020 global biodiversity framework near, this workshop aims to understand the views of UK business on how a new global plan for nature can speak to business and facilitate the transformational change required to save nature. The resulting output will be used by the UK and other Governments to inform negotiations on the post-2020 framework.

Target Audience:

Representatives of a wide range of businesses are encouraged to attend, including both those that impact biodiversity and those that depend upon it. It has hoped the voices of a wide range of economic sectors can be heard so as to best inform the outputs. The meeting will be held under Chatham House rules and comments will not be attributable to individuals or organisations.
