This webinar series aims to build awareness of the relevance and potential of a capitals approach for decision-making in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Eastern & Southern Africa.

The series will build on the outcomes and insights delivered through the online African Forum on Green Economy – Investing in Natural Capital for a Resilient Africa, organised by the Capitals Coalition, IUCN and partners, in 2020. This new series will feature and discuss practical examples, opportunities and tools for SMEs in Eastern & Southern Africa to include the value of natural capital and local communities in decision-making.

In this second webinar of the series, we’ll be joined by representatives from leading tourism operators and community conservancy associations working in partnership in Eastern & Southern Africa.

Discussions will be focussed on the impacts and dependencies of the tourism industry on natural and social capital, how these can be measured more widely across the industry, and how this knowledge can be shared to encourage more collaborative management approaches to better value nature and the local communities they rely on.

Other sessions in the series include:
14th April – Natural, Social and Human Capital and its relevance for SMEs
16th June – Transforming Decision-making for SMEs
14th July – Capitals and Capacity Needs
18th August – Turning Ambition to Action
