Following 30 years founding and developing consulting, services and technology companies, in 2021 Peadar presented the case for, and defined, Quantum Risks. Peadar explains the existence of Quantum Risks as a logical conclusion to an examination of risk practices and seismic changes we see around us. These include, but are not limited to, the effects of:
Globalization which has accelerated an evolution from vertically integrated, command and control organizational hierarchies of yesteryear to ecosystems, where integrated thinking and decision making across geographically spread entities, partners and suppliers is an imperative.
Pace of change in a multi-polar, hyper-connected interdependent world which is growing in uncertainty
Growth of intangible assets and a search for new ways of accounting for value across capitals.
These challenges present a conundrum for the Governance of Organizations where fulfilment of purpose, generation of value and effective oversight of strategies required to sustain value over the longer-term are principal criteria by which stakeholders assess the worth of organizations today.
But these and associated sustainability topics pertain to social constructs and sciences. They are not the result of precise formulae where particular inputs will always precipitate determined outputs and outcomes. Rather they are context driven where stakeholder needs, and expectations influence the perception of value generated in pursuit of objectives.
