Today marks the two year anniversary of the launch of the Natural Capital Protocol. On 13 July 2016 our community gathered to celebrate the harmonization of the many natural capital approaches into an internationally standardized framework, and to discuss what needed to be done to mainstream this approach.
Today, the Coalition has almost doubled to over 280 organizations. The community has come together to develop further guidance around biodiversity, data and marine natural capital. We have strengthened the connection to financial institutions through our ‘Connecting Finance and Natural Capital’ work, and this month we launch the Forest Products Sector Guide.
The Coalition is developing a diverse network of ‘natural capital Regional Platforms’ to ensure that this conversation is relevant across the globe, we’re engaged in exciting efforts to connect the work taking place in the public and private sectors, and we’ve helped to convene governments to discuss their role in creating an enabling environment. The natural capital movement is gaining momentum, and fast!
Now, we need you to share you experience around how natural capital approaches are being applied, what trends are emerging, and what you believe is still to be done, by completing this short survey. Your insights will inform the Coalition’s strategy for 2019 and beyond.
Last year, we documented some of this progress in ‘This is Natural Capital 2017’, which was released at the World Forum on Natural Capital. The conclusions drawn from this year’s survey will be discussed at length during the Natural Capital Week in Paris, 26-30th November. Save the date, more info to follow!
